From owner-bug-octave at bevo dot che dot wisc dot edu Mon Nov 13 19:42:05 1995 Subject: I'd like to help with the statistics From: Heber Farnsworth To: bug-octave at che dot utexas dot edu Date: Mon, 13 Nov 1995 17:41:54 -0800 (PST) Thanks for the octave-mode.el file you sent. It works fine. I'd like to help with the development of Octave if I could. I'm a Phd student in finance and my specialty is Econometrics, especially time series analysis. I'm fairly good at Matlab and Octave so I think I could write some m-files that would be useful. Perhaps you could put me in touch with anyone else who is working on the statistics and we could coordinate our efforts. The key to good statistics procedures is optimization. I have some m-files which do optimization for certain types of problems (non-linear least squares ,etc) and will be writing some more soon to maximize likelihood functions and so forth. If someone is working on optimization perhaps we could talk also.
