There is no FAQ, but I just made all the messages that have been sent
to help-octave and bug-octave available via anonymous ftp from
ftp.che.utexas.edu in the directory /pub/octave/mailing-lists.  I will
try to keep it up to date.

: the syntax to handle more than two subscripts?

I think this might be a useful feature, but the way things are
currently implemented, it would probably  be quite a bit of work.
