OK, the build proceeded fine with only two trouble points:
texi2html -expandinfo -split_chapter -I./.. octave.texi
*** Undefined node (sysupdate):      are currently up-to-date with the
primary system type ( at xref{sysupdate}) dot 
*** Undefined node (sysgettype):  primary system form (default); see
 at ref{sysgettype} dot 

And still make check doesn't work, and I don't know why.
